Wasa Station "Nobody Station", the new station building is a tubular… a pipe with wavy form
In Wakayama Prefecture, Hidakagawa Town, Wasa Station on JR Kiseisen Line, the new station building is completed.
The unique characteristic of this station building is a round tubular construction. It will be started to use in this month.
As the wooden bungalow of old station building had 85 years old, it became a serious problem in earthquake protection. JR West had started to build new one from July this year.
The new station building is now facilitated with an underground drainage. The ground surface is the light weight and strong colgate pine made from iron.
The height of building is only 3 meters and 3.7 meters length, the floor space area is 13 meters square. There are also a wooden bench for 4 or 5 people, timetable, train fare table. The second-hand ticket machine is installed successfully. As in the past, there was no automatic ticket vending machine.
Wasa Station opened since December 1930 is a “nobody” station because the average number of passenger in this station is just around 150 people in one day.
